Research Interests
My background is in molecular biology, first in schistosomiasis and in the last 20 years in malaria. My areas of expertise are: heterologous expression systems in bacteria and baculovirus, genetic variability, population genetics and natural selection. My major research topics are Simian malaria, molecular diagnosis of malaria and relapses markers in malaria. In 2015, as a visiting researcher at Emory University started two new research lines in immunology profiling of malaria in non-human primates and also metabolomics of malaria, particularly relapses in P.vivax-infected patients.
